Cotati is one of only two hexagonally-planned towns in the United States — the other is Detroit — laid out in the 1890s around a six-sided central plaza that’s now a California Historical Landmark. The old Petaluma–Santa Rosa Highway actually ran straight through that plaza until 1955.
